A new day brings new hope

This was the scene yesterday at out forest holding at Aberhosen in mid Wales: a glorious spring morning which seems full of possibility at a time of great uncertainty for us all. Taking each day as it comes seems less difficult in a setting like this with such a wonderful sunrise.

The felling and extraction have been managed for us by Euroforest and the wagons are operated by Les Hughes & Son based in Newtown, not far from either Aberhosen or Bishop’s Castle. Both companies are valued partners in our operations and – like us – both create valuable employment opportunitires in rural areas.

We take everything that comes from this holding – the smaller logs being chipped for biomass, the larger ones going into the mill to be cut for our standard products. As with all of our forests, as soon as we start harvesting we start replanting and so the cycle goes on. Many years from now similar wagons will, we hope, be hauling similar loads as the trees mature. We can only also hope that the memory of the current pandemic will have long-faded and that our successors are blessed with as beautiful a day.
