Ransfords acoustic fencing panels along new Border Railway

Border-Rail-5

The new Border Rail between Edinburgh and Tweedbank in the borders is the longest new domestic line in the UK for more than a century so we’re proud that Ransfords acoustic fencing panels are used at intervals along its length to mitigate noise where the line comes close to housing, schools and station buildings.

Running on part of the old Waverley route from Edinburgh to Carlisle which was closed in 1969, the line passes through spectacular countryside once it is free of the City limits. Border Rail has brought about significant regeneration as well as reconnecting towns to the south of Edinburgh with the City. It holds out great promise as a catalyst for future housing and employment development as well as providing a boost to tourism.

These pictures were taken from the moving train on a wet November day. We plan to return in better conditions in the spring to take more pictures to record the small but important part Ransfords have played in this tremendous engineering achievement.
