We’re always pleased to welcome visitors to the Mill by arrangement: there’s much to see and we believe that once people have been here they’ll have a much better understanding of our operation. That being said, this is a working sawmill and the safety of visitors as they move around the yard is paramount.
To that end all our wheel loaders are now fitted with a new system called ZoneSafe. Visitors wear tags around their neck when on site and if they get close to a machine it bleeps and vibrates to inform both the operator and the person wearing the tag that they are within the zone and close to the machine.
You can see the yellow box on the rear of the Volvo L120 loading chips. This load, incidentally, is to go to a local customer who dries them to 20% moisture content before using them to heat houses and a hotel.
